11/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – The ambassadors of the Member States of the European Union are expected to give their approval, on Friday 12 June, to the holding of an Intergovernmental Conference with Montenegro in order to close, on 15 June, two chapters of the negotiations on accession to the EU: Chapter 2, on the free movement of workers, and Chapter 28, devoted to consumer and health protection. “The decision to hold this Intergovernmental Conference should be approved by Coreper on 12 June”, a Cypriot source told Agence Europe. Montenegro, which has opened all 33 negotiating chapters and has already closed 14 of them, aims to finalise the accession negotiations by the end of 2027 and join the European Union in 2028. (APH)
