Tech giants top lobbying spending, shelling out €73 million in attempt to influence EU policies, according to a report

Large technology companies spent €73 million in 2026 trying to influence EU policies, nearly 60% more than in 2020, making it the sector with the highest lobbying spending, according to the EU Corporate League 2026 report.

Among the big tech companies, Meta comes first with €10 million (+135%), ahead of Amazon (€9 million, +414%) and Apple (€8 million, +300%). After tech giants, the sectors that devote the most resources to lobbying activities are banking (€66.7 million, +37%), energy (€52 million, +63%), and the chemical and agri-food industries (€46.5 million, +61%).

Overall, 173 companies and trade associations spent €381.75 million, €28 million more than in 2025 and 50% more than in 2020. Corporate Europe Observatory and LobbyControl nevertheless believe this figure to be “an underestimate” of actual spending. (Original version in French by Ana Pisonero Hernández)
