26/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – The EU Council has extended the mandate of Christophe Bigot as the European Union Special Representative (EUSR) for the Middle East Peace Process until 29 February 2028. He has been in post since 2 June 2025. According to the decision published on Tuesday 26 May’s Official Journal of the European Union, in addition to his current duties, Mr Bigot will also “contribute to the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict in accordance with UNSC Resolution 2803 (2025)”. In addition, the Special Representative will have to submit regular progress reports to the High Representative of the EU, the Council and the Commission and, no later than 30 November 2027, a final comprehensive report on the implementation of his mandate.
