26/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – Six films financed by the EU won awards at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the European Commission announced on Monday 25 May. Thus, Fjörd, by Cristian Mungiu, which received European support for its development, won the Palme d’Or. Das Geträumte Abenteuer, by Valeska Grisebach, received the Jury Prize thanks to MEDIA co-development support, while Notre Salut, by Emmanuel Marre, won the Best Screenplay Award. Coward, by Lukas Dhont, supported through the film distribution programme, saw its lead actors, Emmanuel Macchia and Valentin Campagne, win the Best Actor Award. Finally, in the Un Certain Regard section, Elephants in the Fog, by Abinash Bikram Shah - supported by MEDIA 360° - won the Jury Prize, and Siempre soy tu animal materno, by Valentina Maurel, won the award for best actresses (Marina de Tavira, Daniela Marín Navarro and Mariangel Villegas).
