Trade agreement with EU - MEPs want clarity on safeguard measures and are concerned about cumulative effect of agricultural quotas

Three weeks after the conclusion of the trade agreement between the European Union and Australia, the European Parliament’s Committees on International Trade (INTA) and Agriculture (AGRI) examined certain points of the text, on Thursday 16 April.

As in the case of the agreement with Mexico (see EUROPE B13849A20), MEPs broadly recognise the strategic interest of this rapprochement with Australia given the current geopolitical context, said Jörgen Warborn (EPP, Swedish).
