16/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 16 April, President of the European Council António Costa spoke out against Russia’s latest “horrendous” attack on civilian targets in Ukraine. During the night, the cities of Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Kharkiv were hit by dozens of ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones. “Russian armed forces deliberately carried out follow-up strikes on Ukrainian emergency services as first responders arrived to save lives,” Mr Costa revealed. “Russia must stop this war of terror. A comprehensive, just, and lasting peace for Ukraine based on the principles of the UN Charter and international law must be achieved,” he pleaded. He explained that to this end, the EU would continue to increase pressure on Russia and would continue to maintain its “steadfast” support for Ukraine. (CG)
