16/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 16 April, the European Commission launched a €16.6 million call for proposals to support pan-European information on Community affairs. This initiative, which is renewed every year, aims to strengthen the audiovisual and digital media offering, targeting as a priority those countries where European news is least covered. The package is divided into three parts: €8.5 million for audiovisual coverage, €5 million for access to reliable digital information and €3.1 million to promote media pluralism. Open until 2 June, the call is aimed at media and consortia based in the EU. The Commission insists on one imperative: beneficiaries must operate “with complete editorial independence”. This funding is part of the Commission’s ‘Multimedia Actions’, designed to bring European issues closer to citizens in a variety of languages. (JM)
