Following a European citizens’ initiative, European Parliament debates an EU-wide ban on conversion practices

Backed by more than 1.1 million signatures collected in record time, the European citizens’ initiative launched on 24 January 2024 calling for a ban on conversion practices was submitted for debate at the plenary session in Brussels on Wednesday 25 March.

These practices, described as ‘torture’ by the United Nations, are already banned in several Member States.
