Brussels, 06/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Union-United Nations Strategic Committee on Peace and Security held its inaugural meeting on Tuesday 3 March in New York, announced the European External Action Service on 5 March. “The Strategic Committee marks a new phase in the UN-EU Strategic Partnership on Peace and Security, following the endorsement of the Joint Priorities for 2025-2028”, said the EEAS, adding that this reflects the Union’s commitment to deepening its support for the United Nations in addressing all peace and security challenges. In order to strengthen follow-up of the 2025-2028 priorities, the co-chairs endorsed the establishment of a dedicated mechanism for the exchange of knowledge between staff in order to track implementation and enhance coordination at working level. The EU-UN Strategic Committee on Peace and Security will meet annually. (CG)
