European Commission launches a consultation with a view to drawing up a new European strategy for islands

Brussels, 06/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 6 March, the European Commission launched a four-week public call for evidence to help it devise a new global strategy for EU’s islands. Announced in the mid-term review of cohesion policy in April 2025 and highlighted in the 2025 European Ocean Pact (see EUROPE B13820A12), this strategy will aim to improve resilience, boost competitiveness and address the specific socio-economic challenges faced by EU islands.
