GDP growth of 0.2% in euro area in fourth quarter of 2025

Brussels, 06/03/2026 (Agence Europe)In the fourth quarter of 2025, seasonally-adjusted GDP rose by 0.2% in the euro area and the European Union compared with the previous quarter, according to an estimate published by the EU’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Friday 6 March. Malta (2.1% of GDP) recorded the strongest growth compared with the previous quarter, followed by Lithuania (+1.7%), Croatia and Cyprus (both 1.4%). Declines were seen in Ireland (-3.8%), Romania (-1.9%), Estonia and Luxembourg (both -0.1%). Wealth creation was moderate in France (0.2%), Italy and Germany (both 0.3%), and sustained in Spain (0.8%). For 2025 as a whole, GDP rose by 1.4% in the euro area and 1.5% in the EU. (MB)
