Brussels, 06/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 6 March, the European Commission approved a €150 million public scheme in Romania to increase electricity storage capacity by 2,174 MWh, deeming it compliant with the ‘CISAF’ regulatory framework in support of the ‘Clean Industrial Deal’ (see EUROPE 13588/1). Financed by the ‘Modernisation Fund’ and provided through direct grants, this aid will facilitate the integration of energy produced from renewable sources into the electricity grid. Beneficiary companies will be selected through a competitive tendering procedure until the end of 2030. The Commission considered that the Romanian scheme is necessary, appropriate and proportionate to accelerate the transition to a ‘net-zero emission’ economy. (MB)
