Brussels, 19/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – The Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service, Charles Fries, and Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, co-chaired the first EU-Nigeria Dialogue on Peace, Security and Defence in Brussels on Wednesday 18 February. On this occasion, the partners reaffirmed their desire to strengthen their cooperation in the face of regional and international security challenges. Discussions focused on the fight against terrorism, maritime security, cyber and hybrid threats and transnational organised crime. The European Union also reiterated its willingness to increase its support for Nigeria at a time when the country is central to stability in West Africa (see EUROPE 13715/19). (BD)
