Brussels, 19/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 19 February, the Council of the EU officially decided to add the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to the EU’s list of terrorist organisations. The EU’s foreign affairs ministers had agreed on this addition to the list on 29 January (see EUROPE 13797/1). The IRGC is now subject to restrictive measures under the EU’s counterterrorism sanctions regime: namely, its funds and other financial assets or economic resources in Member States can be frozen, and EU operators are prohibited from making funds and economic resources available to the group.
