29/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – As European Foreign Ministers discuss the situation in the east of the DRC for only the second time in a year, Belgian Maxime Prévot has warned that the conflict cannot be a “forgotten conflict”. “This is a conflict in which the European Union also has a role to play”, he explained on his arrival at the EU Council, adding that European action was urgently needed to resolve the humanitarian situation. “Europe’s commitment must be much more assertive, much broader, alongside the people who have suffered the tragic horrors of this conflict for far too long”, he added, calling for the reopening of Goma airport, in particular to deliver massive amounts of humanitarian aid.
