Brussels, 23/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has deployed 447 emergency generators worth €3.7 million to supply hospitals, shelters and critical services in Ukraine, according to a press release published on Friday 23 January. While their energy infrastructure continues to be affected by Russian strikes, more than a million Ukrainians are without electricity, water and heating in temperatures as low as -20°C. Mobilised from the ‘RescEU’ strategic reserves hosted in Poland, the equipment supplied will be distributed by Ukraine’s Ministry for the Development of Communities and Territories, with support from the Ukrainian Red Cross. In its press release, the Commission strongly condemned Moscow’s attacks, assuring that “the EU will not let Russia freeze Ukraine into submission“. Since the conflict started, more than €1.2 billion, including 9,500 generators, has already been allocated to Ukraine through the ‘EU Civil Protection Mechanism’.
