Brussels, 23/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 23 January, the Member States’ ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) continued their discussions on the future €90 billion loan to Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, this time focusing on the proposal to amend the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) so that the Ukraine support loan is backed by the EU budget (see EUROPE 13786/4). While there is still work to be done, these discussions appear to be moving in the right direction, with Member States committed to moving forward as a matter of urgency. The Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU will put this issue back on the Coreper agenda on Wednesday 18 February. (MB)
