Brussels, 15/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 15 January, the European Commission welcomed the announcement of the launch of Phase Two of the United States 20-point plan to end the conflict in Gaza, endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, “and in particular the nomination of a Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of Gaza with the support of the Palestinian Authority”. “We look forward to the implementation of the entirety of the Peace Plan, including the disarmament of Hamas, the delivery of humanitarian assistance at scale and the reconstruction of Gaza”, it said in a statement, adding that the EU was ready to continue supporting peace in Gaza through its humanitarian, security, diplomatic and cooperation tools. American envoy Steve Witkoff announced on Wednesday night that with this launch, Gaza was “moving from ceasefire to demilitarisation, technocratic governance, and reconstruction”. (CG)
