22/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 December, the European Commission paid €114 million to Czechia from the EU Solidarity Fund. This aid is supporting reconstruction after the devastating floods of September 2024. The funds can cover costs retroactively from the first day of the damage. They will be used to restore essential infrastructure, including transport, drinking water and wastewater management. This support is part of a €280 million package approved by the EU Council and the European Parliament to help Austria, Czechia, Poland, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova recover from the floods (see EUROPE 13677/14). The EU Solidarity Fund is Europe’s main post-disaster support mechanism. Since its creation in 2002, it has mobilised more than €10 billion for 147 natural disasters. (LC)
