15/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 December, the European Commission announced the launch of an EU airlift to the Darfur region in western Sudan, where mass atrocities, famine and displacement linked to the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (see EUROPE 13761/18) have left millions of people in need of humanitarian aid. A total of eight flights will be carrying vital supplies, the EU institution said at midday on Monday. A first flight has already delivered around 100 tonnes of aid from EU humanitarian stocks and partner organisations on Friday 12 December, while other flights are planned throughout December and January. The total value of this operation is €3.5 million, funded from the EU’s humanitarian aid budget. (BD)
