15/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 December, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Member States to the EU decided to adopt by written procedure the EU Council Implementing Decision on the establishment of the Solidarity Pool for 2026 (see EUROPE 13768/3). This decision, provided for in the ‘Pact on Migration and Asylum’, was politically approved on 8 December, but the written procedure will only be launched after the necessary linguistic work has been carried out, possibly not before Thursday 18 December, according to sources. The Member States have put forward a number of quantified commitments in an attempt to meet the promise to relocate at least 21,000 people or give €420 million in aid to countries under pressure from migration by the second half of 2026 (see EUROPE 13772/15).
