15/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 December, the Council of the European Union decided to extend by one year, until 10 January 2027, the European sanctions targeting 69 dignitaries of the Maduro regime for violating human rights and democratic rules in Venezuela (see EUROPE 13555/11). “This decision was taken in light of the persistent actions undermining democracy and the Rule of law, as well as continued human rights violations and the repression of civil society and democratic opposition, including in relation to the conduct of and developments following the Presidential Elections of 28 July 2024”, it said in a statement.
