Child sexual abuse material online - EU Council finally has a mandate to begin work with European Parliament

On Wednesday 26 November, the Permanent Representatives of the EU Member States (Coreper) approved the draft regulation on removing child sexual abuse material (‘CSAM’) from the internet, which will “oblige online service providers to prevent the dissemination of, to detect, report and remove child sexual abuse material [and] prevent, detect and report the solicitation of children (’grooming’)”, in particular through prevention and risk mitigation measures.
