25/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday, 24 November, the European Commission opened a public consultation on the reforms envisaged for the electricity market in the Czech Republic. Public and private stakeholders have until 22 December to submit their opinions. The regulation on electricity markets (2019/943) requires Member States to reform their electricity markets when they identify risks of supply shortages. The European Resource Adequacy Assessment 2024 revealed that, despite a high level of interconnection, the Czech Republic is facing a potential risk of resource shortfall, primarily in 2028 and beyond. The country submitted its reform plan to the European Commission on 14 November, with the aim of correcting regulatory distortions and market failures. Taking the input from the public consultation into account, the European Commission will then formulate an opinion. To view the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/jmq (PLD)
