EU and Pakistan in favour of resolving tensions through dialogue before renewed attacks

25/11/2025 (Agence Europe)As part of the seventh EU-Pakistan dialogue on Friday 21 November, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, and the Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar, discussed cross-border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan in October 2025. These were followed by Pakistani bombings on Tuesday 25 November, following a suicide attack on the headquarters of the Pakistani security forces in a province bordering Afghanistan. However, the participants in the EU-Pakistan dialogue reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace, stability and prosperity and to “resolving problems through dialogue between neighbours”. In particular, the two parties called on the Afghan authorities to play “a constructive role” in eradicating terrorism from Afghan soil and to ensure the protection of human rights, particularly those of women.
