25/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 25 November, the European University Association (EUA) published its response to the European Commission’s consultation on the next multiannual financial framework and the future of Erasmus+ for 2028-2034. While welcoming the continuation and improvement of the programme’s current actions, the EUA mentions that clarification is needed on the budget allocation between sectors, the feasibility of new full degree excellence scholarships in major fields and the ability of the proposed budget to cover inflation and rising costs. The association is therefore calling for a substantial increase in funding, clear sectoral allocations and the continuation of the European Universities Initiative. Other demands include maintaining the priorities of inclusion, ecological and digital transition, as well as the importance of fully learning from the current programme to avoid low success rates and over-subscription.
