MEPs reaffirm importance of principle of subsidiarity in European political and legislative action

On Tuesday 4 November, the European Parliament’s Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) reaffirmed the importance of the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality in European political and legislative action.

“The report calls for strengthening the role of national parliaments, demanding earlier consultation, greater transparency, and more effective tools to hold EU institutions accountable”, said Marieke Ehlers (PfE, Dutch) in a statement.
