22/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 21 October, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education and Culture published a report on support for the book sector under the EU’s culture programme, Creative Europe. Between 2021 and 2024, 124 projects have been funded under the ‘Culture’ strand, including 108 literary translation projects, resulting in the publication of 2,094 translations of 1,870 works. Thanks to the ‘Circulation of European Literary Works’ initiative, more than one book a day has been translated and distributed for the first time. Children’s literature in particular has been targeted by Creative Europe. The European Education and Culture Executive Agency has also published a ‘Literary Translations Playbook’, a comprehensive catalogue of translation projects supported in 2022 and 2023.
