22/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 21 October, the European Commission launched a call for evidence and a public consultation to gather the views of all stakeholders interested in the future Advanced Materials Act. An important element of the ‘Competitiveness Compass’ (see EUROPE 13731/14), this legislation aims to establish a strategic framework for materials that are specially designed and manufactured to have innovative properties and functionalities, which can be used in products ranging from portable electronic devices to electric vehicles. For the Commission, these are essential to the EU’s industrial leadership, strategic autonomy and competitiveness. The legislation will support the research and innovation (R&I) process, from the design and development to the manufacture and deployment of these materials. The call for evidence and public consultation are open until Tuesday 13 January 2026. For more information: https://aeur.eu/f/j38 (AD)
