REPowerEU - European Parliament backs decision to open interinstitutional negotiations with EU Council, with first session on 6 November

No request for an objection vote was made on Wednesday 22 October in Strasbourg regarding the intention to open interinstitutional negotiations with the EU Council on the REPowerEU regulation for a definitive phase-out of Russian fossil fuels.

On 16 October, the Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and its Committee on International Trade (INTA) adopted their position on the issue, calling for a complete phase-out of Russian fossil fuels by 1 January 2027.
