17/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – The coordinator of the S&D Group within the European Parliament’s Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL), Estelle Ceulemans (Belgian), will attend the Porto Social Forum and ultimately represent the Committee, even though the EMPL coordinators and members took the decision earlier this week not to attend the event (see EUROPE 13709/1), deploring their exclusion from the process of drafting the joint declaration. The European Parliament will also be represented by its Vice-President, Younous Omarjee (The Left, French). The situation also remained unclear regarding the possible Porto Declaration, which could take on a different format following this event, intended to relaunch the EU’s social commitments made by European leaders in Porto in 2021.
