17/09/2025 (Agence Europe) – In August, the annual inflation rate remained unchanged at 2.0% in the euro area compared to July, according to data published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Wednesday 17th September. In the EU as a whole, it also remained stable at 2.4%. The highest annual rates were observed in Romania (8.5%), Estonia (6.2%) and Croatia (4.6%), while the lowest rates were recorded in Cyprus (0.0%), France (0.8%) and Italy (1.6%). Price rises were moderate in Germany (2.1%) and vigorous in Spain (2.7%). In August, the biggest contribution to annual inflation in the euro area came from services (+1.44 percentage points, pp), followed by food, alcohol & tobacco (+0.62 pp), industrial goods excluding energy (+0.18 pp) and energy (-0.19 pp).
