15/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – The EU’s non-binding target of reducing the use and risks associated with chemical pesticides by 50% by 2030 has already been achieved, according to data published on Tuesday 15 July by the European Commission. Compared with the reference period 2015-2017, the use of and risks associated with chemical pesticides have fallen by 58% in 2023, while the use of the most dangerous substances has fallen by 27% over the same period. Under Directive 2009/128/EC establishing a framework for Community action to achieve a sustainable use of pesticides, Member States are continuing to implement their National Action Plans to reduce the risks and impacts of these products on human health and the environment. They also encourage the use of alternative techniques. More details: https://aeur.eu/f/hvo (LC)
