New project by European Digital Media Observatory to support fight against disinformation in Ukraine and Moldova

Brussels, 15/07/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 15 July, the European Commission announced that the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) now includes a new regional ‘hub’ project to support the fight against disinformation in Ukraine and Moldova. The new ‘hub’, called FACT, will be used, for example, to monitor the elections in Moldova, which are being particularly targeted by Russian manipulation. The European Digital Media Observatory supports independent players - academics, fact-checkers and others - in their fight against disinformation, in particular by encouraging them to join forces. The Commission has also announced that six other EDMO projects, whose contracts expire in 2025, will be able to continue their work thanks to €8.8 million in support from the Digital Europe programme.
