Brussels, 27/06/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 27 June, the spokesman for the European External Action Service called for concrete measures to be taken to prevent settler violence against Palestinians and to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are held to account. In a statement, the spokesman stressed that the situation in the West Bank was worsening rapidly, with a steep rise in settler violence, intimidation and destruction of homes and property in recent days, including the killing of three Palestinians in Kafr Malik on Wednesday. “This must come to an end”, he demanded, adding that “in the current difficult situation, all efforts should be directed at de-escalating tensions”. The settlements are illegal under international law. Sanctions against violent settlers have been in the pipeline for weeks, but Hungary is blocking their adoption. (CG)
