27/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European External Action Service (EEAS) announced on Monday, 26 May, that a new EU-funded project had been launched in Tashkent to “promot[e] gender-responsive policies and budgets” in Uzbekistan. “Gender-responsive budgeting will empower [the] girls and women of Uzbekistan”, affirmed Toivo Klaar, the EU ambassador to Uzbekistan. The project aims to support efforts to establish institutional mechanisms that integrate gender equality into budgetary decision-making and national development strategies. It will be implemented by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in close collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
