Hungary and Slovakia block adoption of Council conclusions on democratic resilience in EU

On Tuesday, 27 May, Hungary and Slovakia blocked the adoption of draft conclusions of the Council of the European Union on democratic resilience in the EU. The Polish Presidency of the Council had taken over responsibility for the text—which was approved by the other 25 Member States.

Relatively general, the text of the conclusions does not require very specific initiatives to be undertaken at the European level, but it does aim to set the tone for Member States’ thematic priorities...
