ENTSOG publishes its first recommendations to promote cooperation between transmission and distribution system operators

On Tuesday 13 May, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) published for the first time its recommendations to transmission system operators (TSOs) on their technical cooperation with distribution system operators (DSOs).

Continued cooperation between TSOs and DSOs promotes the decarbonisation of 2,000,000 km of transmission and distribution networks in Europe by facilitating the use of renewable and low-carbon gas in an integrated energy system”, emphasised ENTSOG Director General Piotr Kuś in a statement.

Areas of cooperation include the principles for measuring gas quantity and quality, safety requirements and exchanging information on infrastructure.

The gas package regulation (see EUROPE 13455/26) requires ENTSOG to adopt this type of non-binding recommendation to TSOs concerning their cooperation with DSOs, but also with hydrogen network operators (HNOs).

However, recommendations concerning cooperation with the latter will be drawn up at a later date, given that there are currently only a limited number of HNOs.
