European citizens’ initiative calling for ban on conversion therapies reaches one million signatures

16/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) calling for a ban on conversion therapies for LGBTQ people in Europe reached one million signatures on Friday 16 May. The European Commission must now respond publicly to this request. The text calls on the Commission to propose “a binding legal ban on conversion practices targeting LGBTQ+ citizens” in the EU.
