16/05/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 16 May, the European Commission announced Montenegro had joined the European LIFE programme, which grants financial aid so as to support projects related to the circular economy, the energy transition, the protection of biodiversity, and resilience in the face of climate change. This will enable initiatives to be carried out in areas such as waste management, energy efficiency, and water management while strengthening the implementation of EU environmental policies. The agreement was signed on 15 May by European Commissioner for the Environment Jessika Roswall and Montenegrin Minister of Ecology Damjan Ćulafić. Montenegro has become the fifth non-EU country to join the programme—following Iceland, Ukraine, Moldova, and North Macedonia. (IS)
