EU Member States agree to renew individual sanctions

14/03/2025 (Agence Europe)On Friday, 14 March, EU Member States agreed to renew the individual sanctions against nearly 2,400 people and entities deemed responsible for violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence; these sanctions have been renewed for a period of six months ending on 15 September 2025. Three deceased persons were removed from the list, and after tough negotiations, sanctions against four individuals were not renewed. These individuals are Russian Minister of Sport Mikhail Vladimirovich Degtyarev (sanctioned since 25 July 2014, when he was a member of the Duma), former CEO and Director of EuroChem Group AG—one of the world’s largest producers of chemical fertilisers—Vladimir Rashevsky (sanctioned since 15 March 2022), Gulbakhor Ismailova, sister of Alisher Usmanov, labeled a "pro-Kremlin oligarch" by the Council (sanctioned since 8 April 2022), and Russian oligarch Viatcheslav Moshe Kantor (sanctioned since 8 April 2022).
