10/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – The Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) has opened a public consultation, from 10 to 31 March, to seek input on formulating its recommendation regarding inter-temporal cost allocation mechanisms for financing hydrogen infrastructure. These mechanisms, authorised by the Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market Regulation (see EUROPE 13455/26), aim to allow hydrogen network operators to recover infrastructure costs over time, rather than adopting traditional regulated tariffs, which could result in extremely high fees for early network users, “making hydrogen less affordable and potentially discouraging further demand”. The EU regulation requires ACER to issue its recommendation by 5 August, with an update every two years. To see the public consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/ftx (PLD)
