Brussels, 10/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 March, the European Commission approved €400 million in Austrian State aid to support the production of renewable hydrogen. This programme is being held as part of the European Hydrogen Bank’s “Auctions-as-a-Service” programme, to finance the production of up to 112,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen. According to the Commission, this will avoid the equivalent of 536,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. At the same time, the European Commission has also given the go-ahead for the same type of programme in Lithuania, amounting to €36 million, for the production of 13,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen. The aid will take the form of direct grants per kilogramme of renewable hydrogen produced and may be granted for a maximum of 10 years. (LM)
