03/03/2025 (Agence Europe) – The twentieth EU-Central Asia ministerial meeting, due to take place on Tuesday 4 March in Turkmenistan, has been cancelled and will have to be rescheduled “as soon as possible”, according to the press service of the European External Action Service (EEAS), due to the illness of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas. Meanwhile, the new EU Special Representative for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais (see EUROPE 13586/26), visited Ashgabat on 3 March. The purpose of the ministerial meeting was to discuss preparations for the EU-Central Asia Summit, which will take place on 3 and 4 April in Uzbekistan, in the presence of the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen (see EUROPE 13578/8).
