Fourteen European employers’ organisations (Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, United Kingdom and France) have formed an alliance dedicated to nuclear energy on Wednesday 12 February in Paris, under the aegis of Medef (Mouvement des entreprises de France), by signing a joint declaration committing to strengthening the nuclear energy industry in Europe.
In this declaration, the signatories call on the European institutions and the Member States to speed up the industrialisation of the sector, support the development of skills and “provide a clear and enabling institutional framework, removing barriers and fully apply technological neutrality”.
They also call for secure access to private and public funding, by ensuring that “nuclear and derivative low-carbon solutions can fully access European financing and guarantee programmes”, such as the State Aid Guidelines, the Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEIs), the European Investment Bank, the Innovation Fund and the European Hydrogen Bank.
