13/02/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 February, the European Commission announced the 27 winners of the 18th ‘Juvenes Translatores’ translation competition, aimed at secondary school pupils (aged between 11 and 18) in the EU. More than 3,000 participants translated texts in various language combinations between the 24 official languages of the Union, including unusual duos such as Polish-Portuguese and Romanian-Finnish. This competition, supported by Erasmus+, aims to promote language learning and give young people an insight into the translation profession. The winners, selected by the Commission’s translators, will travel to Brussels on 10 April for the prize-giving ceremony, where they will meet professional translators. In addition, 341 students received a special mention for their work. For more information on the winners: https://aeur.eu/f/fh9 (NP)
