11/02/25 (Agence Europe) – By the deadline of 10 February, only 10 signatories to the Paris Climate Agreement had submitted their updated strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 - their ‘Nationally Determined Contributions’ (NDCs). The United Kingdom, Brazil and Switzerland have done so, but almost all of the 195 signatories have not. However, a majority of parties, including the European Union (see EUROPE 13570/6), have indicated their willingness to submit a plan this year, before COP30 in November in Bélem. In fact, the NDCs must be submitted by September so that they can be incorporated into a summary report to be shared at the COP, as indicated by the United Nations Executive Secretary for Climate Change, Simon Stiell (see EUROPE 13574/14).
