11/02/25 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament approved the agreement on air services between the EU and Bangladesh by 562 votes to 17, with 3 abstentions, at its plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday 11 February (see EUROPE 13568/37). This horizontal agreement gives all EU airlines non-discriminatory access to routes between Bangladesh and the seven EU Member States concerned, whose bilateral agreements do not yet allow this: Belgium, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, France and Slovakia. The European Court of Justice has ruled that denying access to EU airlines controlled by nationals of other Member States is contrary to EU law. The agreement will be put to the vote of the whole European Parliament during the next plenary session in February. The Member States approved the aviation agreement in September (see EUROPE 13478/5). Read the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/fg8 (AD)
