29/01/25 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 29 January, the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism approved the air services agreement between the EU and Bangladesh by 41 votes to two. This horizontal agreement grants all EU airlines non-discriminatory access to routes between Bangladesh and the seven concerned EU Member States whose bilateral air services agreements with Bangladesh do not already allow this: Belgium, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, France and Slovakia. The European Court of Justice has ruled that denying access to EU airlines controlled by nationals of other Member States is contrary to EU law. The agreement will be put to the vote of the whole European Parliament during the next plenary session in February.
