European Commission opens public consultation on provisions of Common Fisheries Policy

On Monday 27 January, the European Commission opened a public consultation to gather the views of stakeholders on the results achieved by the regulation on the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).

This public consultation, open until 21 April, is an important step towards a comprehensive evaluation of the current CFP regulation.

The assessment in question will focus on the impact of the regulation on the conservation of marine resources and on the management of fishing activities and the fleets that depend on them. It will also examine the effects of the policy on the supply chain, consumers and public authorities in EU Member States over the last decade (2014-2024).

The European Commissioner for Fisheries, Costas Kadis, is to carry out a full evaluation of the CFP and make proposals, if necessary, to revise Regulation 1380/2013 (see EUROPE 13558/14).

The results of this consultation (https://aeur.eu/f/f9w ), combined with other analyses, will feed into the evaluation of the performance of the CFP regulation (objectives, economic impact, relevance in the light of new needs).

In 2025, the Commission will publish a summary report on the results of this consultation. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
